More game modes are planned to come in free content updates to make sure things stay interesting! Playing as the Royal Navy or Pirates in two teams of up to 27, Blackwake players work together to fire cannons, shoot muskets, and clash swords with the enemy in a battle to own the sea, with a wide variety of different ships, weapons, and customizable cosmetics to be chosen, and across multiple game modes: Team Deathmatch, Capture the Booty, and Fortress Siege. Weather will change with each round, spanning from a calm day with islands to a heavy storm in the open ocean. Game modes with variation: Ranging from a traditional duel style 1v1 ship deathmatch all the way to a 3v3 deathmatch of various ship sizes, you will be tested as a captain, your coordination with other captains, and as a crew. This will also award supplies to the winning team. The only way to regain tickets is by grappling an enemy ship and winning the grapple.

It is important to note that a suicide by a full health player on the deck of a ship does not count as a ticket lost. This can be done by either sinking the enemies ships, lowering their tickets by the amount of people on that ship in addition to any suicides afterwards, or killing their crew. The primary objective of TDM is to lower the enemy team’s tickets to 0. Some servers have an option called Ticket Scaling enabled, which will lower the starting number of tickets based on the number of people on the server. By default, both teams start with 160 tickets used to respawn crew members. Team Deathmatch(TDM) is one of three gamemodes in which there are two teams consisting of 3 ships(2 small ships and 1 large ship). Prime the shot: Face the cannon and hold left mouse until the fill bar is full. Your captain will usually instruct on what shot is needed. Load shots: Same as with the powder, but there are multiple types of shots to be loaded. Then load it to the cannon with the left mouse. Loading Cannons: Loading cannons in BW is a multi-process event. All modes have a common path to victory: Kill the enemy and sink their ships. Defenders must protect their Fortress and Flag. In Siege game mode, Attackers must destroy the Fortress defenses, then lower the Flag inside.

That's broadly planned for "mid 2015".If neither team can capture twice then the last capture will win. Pre-alpha tests have shown it'll work with around 120 players, and the developers hope to hit 300 by launch. It's the sort of ambitious idea that I imagine will come out a bit wonky, but hope the ambition will shine through. Along with plain old team deathmatch, the two-man dev team (!) are planning objective scenarios like trying to capture bounty targets or plundering merchant vessels. Ships are destructible and sinkable, cannons blowing great holes in them, but boarding with guns and cutlasses is also a murder option. The grand dream is large-scale naval warfare where each player holds a role on the crew, from navigating to manning guns. I know! Come look, then we can decide what to do with this drunken sailor. I've been at RPS for seven months and am only now posting about Blackwake: Dead Marque, a multiplayer naval FPS about broadsiding and boarding with destructible ships.
